Rose Float Project Code of Conduct

VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT
While working at the Phoenix Decorating Co. Rose Parade Float Construction Site

All volunteers participating in float construction and decoration activities are expected to conduct themselves in a safe, respectful, and professional manner.

By entering the worksite, volunteers agree to comply
with the following Code of Conduct.

1. Safety First

• Follow all instructions provided by the Kiwanis Rose Float Project site team, Phoenix Crew Chiefs, and Phoenix Decorating Company (herein referenced as simply “Phoenix”) staff.
• Wear appropriate clothing suitable for a construction and decorating environment.
• Closed-toe, closed heel, sturdy shoes are required at all times.
  Sandals, flip-flops, open-toe shoes, and high heels are prohibited.
• Use tools, equipment, and materials only as instructed.
• Immediately report any injury, unsafe condition, or accident to a crew chief or Kiwanis Site Team member.

2. Professional Conduct

• Treat fellow volunteers, staff, visitors, and guests with courtesy, dignity, and respect always.
• Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude.
• Refrain from disruptive behavior, harassment, discrimination, bullying, or inappropriate language.
• Follow all posted site rules and directions.

3. Attention to the Work

• Volunteers are expected to remain focused on their assigned decorating tasks while in the work area.
• The use of personal cell phones, smartphones, tablets, earbuds, or similar devices is prohibited while actively decorating or working on the float.
• Personal phone use should be limited to designated break periods and approved areas away from the worksite.
• Photography or video recording may be restricted in certain areas and must comply with site policies.

4. Protection of Property and Materials

• Handle all float materials, tools, and equipment carefully and responsibly.
• Do not remove materials, tools, supplies, or memorabilia from the site without authorization.
• Help maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Please follow waste bin labeling, paying particular attention to green waste/recycling/etc.

5. Substance-Free Environment

• Possession or use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any impairing substances is strictly prohibited at the float site.
• Volunteers must not report to the site under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Smoking is prohibited inside the decorating facility or within 100 feet of any door.

6. Compliance with Leadership

• Volunteers must follow directions from authorized project leaders, safety personnel, and Phoenix staff.
• Failure to comply with instructions may result in removal from the work area.

7. Consequences for Violations

The safety of all participants and the integrity of the Rose Float Project depends on every volunteer adhering to this Code of Conduct. Violations of these standards may result in:

• Immediate removal from the worksite
• Suspension or prohibition from future participation in float decorating activities and related events
• Additional actions deemed appropriate by project leadership
• Members of Kiwanis-affiliated organizations may have their names reported to the District Executive Director and appropriate leaders within their membership structure.

By volunteering at the Phoenix float construction site, participants acknowledge that they have read, understand, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct.
